Footage From One Of My First Triathlons in Bountiful, Utah – Coach Lora Erickson BlondeRunner.com

Recently I ran across this footage from one of my first triathlons many years back. Thanks so my husband for taking this video. It was held at the old Bountiful Rec Center aka “The Bubble”. It was really fun to watch. This was before I knew how to use aero bars, before I had clip pedals and before I understood that triathlon clothing was available. You can see me struggle to get my dry clothes on over my wet swimsuit. The homemade wooden bike stand is classic! You can see my water bottle with the hose on it that my husband and I put together from the hardware store so I wouldn’t have to take my hands off the handlebars and could suck the water up the straw. I remember how heavy and stiff my legs felt heading out on the run. I’ve come a long way since then. Thank you to the late Richard Barnum-Reece, 1945-2008, for offer these events that got so many of us locals started into triathlons. Rest in peace and may triathlons live on.
