Q. How did you meet?
A. We met when I tried to sell Trevor a cell phone while he was going to
school at Weber State. We ended up being in the same singles ward and
became good friends and then started dating.

Q. How did each of you get started running?
A. We both got into running in junior high and high school. I ran the 100,
400 hurdles and the open 400, 4x400, and long jump. I also ran cross
country. Trevor ran cross country and did everything from the 400 to
the 3200 in track. The 1600 and 3200 were his best events.

Q. What are your occupations?
A. I am now staying at home with my son Jace, but until recently I
was a team lead phlebotomist for PAML/Biolabs. Trevor is working
on his doctorate of physical therapy at the University of Utah.

Q. Where are you from/tell us about each of you?

A. I was born in Brazil, and lived there until I was 10. Then my family
moved to New York, and we lived in several places in and around there
and New Jersey. I came to Utah to take a summer class at BYU, but
didn't like it too much in Provo. I had some friends that lived in Ogden, so
I moved up there and liked it a lot better so I stayed! Trevor was born in
Provo, but his family moved around a lot when he was younger because
his dad was in the Air Force. They eventually ended up in Centerville
when Trevor was 11 and stayed there. We have lived in Davis County our
whole married lives and feel like it is home here.

Q. Tell us about an interesting/funny experience you

have had with running?

A. Trevor was bit by a dog once while running in a park, and has been
chased by numerous other dogs and even a cat! Since my son was born
I have been pushing him in races, and in one race last year, he kept taking
his shoes off and throwing them while I was tying to sprint to the finish!

Q. What is your currently weekly milage?

A. I am running/walking 4 times a week right now, probably like 10 miles.
Trevor is just starting again after a month off and is only running about 8 miles
right now, but will be building to 25-30 hopefully.

Q. When is your next race? What other races do you

planned for 2009?

A. I am doing the Valentines day 5k in bountiful and plan to do the
Tech Trek 5k in may, and hopefully some other ones. Trevor is doing
the 4th street clinic triathlon at the U in April, the Tech Trek in May,
and plans to do the Centerville Freedom Run, Deseret News 10k,
Centerville 10k trail run, and probably some others.

Q. What is your favorite run and race distance?

A. I like anything that is a 5k. Trevor likes to run on Orchard Drive
because that means at some point he will be running down hill.
Trevor's favorite distance is a 5k, but has been liking 10ks a lot lately.

Q. PR’s & most memorable race?

A. I liked the Canyonlands 5-mile race, I have done that one twice.
My best 5k in high
school was about 21 minutes. Since then they have been around 26-32
minutes. Trevor's best 5k in high school was 17:01, mile: 4:39, 2 mile: 10:01.
Those times are much a
thing of the past. More recently he has run a 1:37 half marathon, an 18:41 5k.

Q. Favorite products, gear, gadgets?

A. Dry fit shirts and light running shoes.

Q. Why do you run?

A. I run because I like how I feel after I run. I also like to forget about everything else while I am running and take a break from regular life. Trevor uses it as stress relief, a good work out, and he loves the competition of it.

Q. What are your running goals?

A. My goals are to get back in shape and get my 5k time back to where it was before I had Jace. Trevor wants to get a good workout, have fun, and his time goals are under 18 minutes for a 5k and under 40 minutes for a 10k.

Q. Best advice you can give to others just getting started into running?

A. Be consistent. “It’s very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.”-George Sheehan. “You get what you give, so give all you’ve got.”-Dan O’brien

Just do it and be consistent! Don’t start off too fast, build yourself up. Don’t get discouraged. Give your body time to adjust to the new stresses of running. Run with other people.

Q. Other hobbies or interests?

I like to scrapbook, sew, draw and do other crafty things. Also like to play volleyball, soccer. Trevor loves to play basketball, swim, and play raquetball. We love the TV show Lost! Also we love to camp, hike, and do things outdoors!

Q. Tell us more about you (family, work etc…)?

We have a 22 month-old son named Jace, who we are also training to be a runner! Well, not just yet. I have an older sister and a younger brother and Trevor is the oldest in his family and has 2 sisters and a brother. Trevor served an LDS mission in the Philippines, and we would love to go on vacation to Brazil!
